Desire and Persistence

In the course of our life we may often come across the question, "why are things not going my way?" It feels like the tides of the world have turned against us. We must then analyze what it is we are trying to accomplish and how badly we want it.

I find it is much easier to recall an image then it is recall an inspirational lecture you heard a long time ago. Therefore, I gathered together all the artisitic talent I could afford and came up with this drawing.

In order to accomplish any noteworthy goal in our lives it requires we contain a certain amount of the internal qualities of Desire and Persistence. Equiped with this pair men and women are imbued with unstoppable courage enabling them to turn any thought into its phyiscal reality.

Observe the way Desire and Persistence complement one another. When lacking in Desire persist in your objective, and when lacking in persitence recall how badly you desire your purpose to be fulfilled. Remember this diagram and commit it to memory, it will help you when you find yourself lacking in either of these attributes.

I leave you with a quote by the great Napoleon Hill.

"The starting point of all achievement is DESIRE. Keep this constantly in mind. Weak desires bring weak results, just as a small amount of fire makes a small amount of heat. If you find yourself lacking in persistence, this weakness may be remedied by building a stronger fire under your desires."

Jesse,

Great post...and superb art work...lol. Desire and persistence when working together create amazing outcomes! I am sitting here watching the biggest loser and this show illustrates this perfectly. In order to lose the weight there people had to have the desire and then the persistence to keep going. If the desire went away, then so did persistence (and the goal was not obtained). But what about persistence without desire? Maybe that becomes obsessive behavior... Hmmmmmm good stuff to ponder!

Hey Caroline,

I agree with you. And i love that show the biggest loser, it really shows people actually making changes and the results are amazing. Thanks!

Jesse you have written this post very clearly and concisely. I get it! And I need to remember it.

When my goal becomes too difficult it is easy to stop caring, stop trusting and stop wanting it.

I must learn to cultivate an attitude (build a stronger fire) to stay in touch with my desires and remember persistence will pay off and achieve the outcome.

Namaste

Okay my friend, I get it and I agree with you. I will persist.

Funny you should mention Napoleon Hill. When I was first out of the military, way back in the days of the Flintstones, I came to LA and went to work for an encyclopedia company. Door to door sales. Why? They were they only ones who'd give me a job. But in our week's training before they turned us loose in the field to harass all the tired and sleepy Angelenos, we were required to read Think and Grow Rich, by none other than Napoleon Hill. You have brought back some hairy memories of walking around the streets of LA, late at night, fighting off wild dogs, ruffians and bums. But I made it.

Happy trails.

This has to be the most ironic title for a last post...

What's happened to you? Well, fair warning I'm taking you off my blog - roll. So if you start blogging again, you'll have to leave a message on my blog! Hope all is well with you.

The above statement is seen to be contradictory. The situation is very critical and need an experience complainer to resolve it.

Hello my friend
Someone clicked on an old post of mine back in 2009 and it had your name associated with it, so I thought I would pop over and say HI.

Hope all is well in your world and I hope desire and persistence still play a big part in your day to day living.

Big heart hugs
